Jet takes off behind ‘Shaka Rock’

Australian rockers Jet [ tickets ] have outlined a spring trek of North America as the group continues canvassing the world behind last summer's "Shaka Rock."

Beginning with the tour kick-off March 5 in Toronto, the rock quartet will hit a handful of East Coast clubs before working their way westward. The 13-city run wraps up March 30 in Colorado Springs, CO. The full schedule is shown at right.

The band--comprised of singer/guitarist Nic Cester, drummer Chris Cester, guitarist Cam Muncey and bassist Mark Wilson--unveiled "Shaka Rock," its third studio effort, last summer. The set peaked at No. 27 on The Billboard 200 and reached No. 5 on Australia's ARIA Albums chart.

"The one thing I really love about this band is its honesty," Nic Cester explained in a statement posted at the band's website. "For better or worse, every album is a real and accurate window into how we are reacting to our lives in that point in time, which is why every album is uniquely different, and I think 'Shaka Rock' is the most honest so far."

"Shaka Rock" follows the group's 2006 release, "Shine On," which the band worked on over much of 2005 and into 2006 during writing sessions in Barbados, Australia, Massachusetts and Los Angeles.

In 2004, Jet won an MTV Video Music Award for Best Rock Video for the hit "Are You Gonna Be My Girl."
