Kentucky Wildcats and Indiana Hoosiers call off rivalry

The border state rivalry between the Indiana Hoosiers and Kentucky Wildcats, two universities rich in tradition, has been a staple of the NCAA men's college basketball regular season for decades. However, Indiana officials announced on Thursday, May 3, 2012 that contract negotiations between the two universities had come to a fork in the road leaving the annual matchup, which dates back to 1969, in jeopardy.

The crossroads between the two programs differ on where to play games. Kentucky prefers to play in larger arenas versus campus sites. University of Kentucky believes revenue from playing in larger off-campus arenas is a great benefit but Indiana athletic director Fred Glass prefers to keep the contest away from neutral sites and back to the on campus arenas of Rupp Arena in Lexington and Assembly Hall in Bloomington.

Possible suspension of 2013 NFL Pro Bowl

On April 26th 2012, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell announced the possibility of suspending the 2013 NFL Pro Bowl as a result of the low quality shown in the 2012 Pro Bowl. The lack of competition during the game is reflected through high criticism from fans and declining viewership ratings.

The Pro Bowl has consistently drawn in a large audience but not enough to call it a money maker for the NFL. According to Nielsen, the 2012 Pro Bowl recorded an 8.1% drop in ratings when compared to the 2011 Pro Bowl, which drew in 12.4 million viewers. The highest television audience recorded was 13.5 million during the 1997 contest.

Two weeks ago on April 13, 2012, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street band thrilled Chicago area fans by announcing their Wrecking Ball Tour added a performance on September 7 at Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs. The demand for tickets was overwhelming — tickets went on sale Saturday, April 21, at 10 a.m. and sold out an hour later.

If you weren't able to secure tickets for that show, mark your calendar for May 5 at 10 a.m. In response to the demand for tickets, Springsteen and the E Street band added another Wrigley Field performance for the following night, September 8.

MetLife Stadium climbed to the top of TicketNews exclusive venue rankings this week thanks to some highly anticipated events taking place at the two-year old stadium.

Driving the venue into the No. 1 position were ticket sales for the Garden State's hometown hero, Bruce Springsteen. The singer, who is affectionately known to his fans as "The Boss," will be performing at the open-air venue alongside his beloved E Street Band for three dates in September.
